Marcus Wilson is Workforce Project intern at Independent Sector. He is responsible for synthesizing data from proposals submitted for consideration for the organization’s National Summit 2025 related to the Thriving Workforce and Strategic Volunteer Engagement initiatives — cross-referencing this information with Independent Sector’s Nonprofit State profiles.
Before joining Independent Sector, Marcus spent a year as a FOIA analyst, where he conducted research, drafted analyses, and processed open records requests from a range of city and state governments. Marcus’ research was selected for presentation at the prestigious Eastern Sociological Society Conference. He also engaged in partnerships with Virginia Commonwealth University’s research program and was recognized as a fellowship member at the Institute of Social Research at the University of Michigan. Marcus earned his bachelor’s degree in Sociology, with a minor in Finance, from Virginia Commonwealth University. He is currently pursuing his Master’s in Public Administration at the L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs. Beyond his professional pursuits, Marcus is passionate about social change and channeling his creativity as an artist.
