Thomas Sprigg, born in Kettering, Northamptonshire, England. The son of Thomas Sprgigg and Katherine Griffin, he married Kathryne Graves, the widow of William Roper, in March of 1650. Their first 2 children were born in Northampton County.

The family relocated to Maryland where Thomas' brother-in-law William Stone governed. Daughter Sarah Sprigg was born in Maryland.
