Francis Wright buried at the Great House "Cabin Point"
1658 - May 28, 1713

Born on the Chickacone/Chicacoan estate of Col. John Mottrom in Northumberland County, Francis Wright, was the  son of Richard Wright "The Immigrant" and wife Ann Mottram.  Francis married Anne, daughter of Col. John Washington and Anne Pope, a year or two before 1682.  Anne was born in September, 1659.

Major Wright, a Captain, Surveyor, Attorney, Sheriff, ship owner and held in such esteem was chosen as His Majesty's Justice of Westmoreland County.  Major Wright was re-commissioned as Justice by a Royal Warrant, dated 13 Sept. 1700 by William, King of England.  In 1703, Queen Anne recognized him as "first citizen" of Westmoreland County and President of the Justices, after he served as a special Judge in a case of importance for the peace of the colony.

Contributed land and money to the building of Yeocomico Church still in use today, elder and vestryman and a gracious and kind man.

After the death of Ann, circa 1697, he married Martha Cox in 1709.  He died at the age of 53 and was buried on his inherited estate of 1400 acres. as there was no will, all property went to his eldest son, John.
