James Madison, our fourth president of the United States, was known as the Father of our Constitution.  He was born in Westmoreland County, Virginia on March 16, 1751.

Madison, the eldest of 12, was the son of James Madison Sr. and Nelly Madison. The Madisons were settled nicely in Virginia. His father was a wealthy planter.  John Maddison of Westmoreland County Virginia:
On 5 March 1658/59 John Maddison received a 300 acre land patent in Westmoreland County, Virginia on the South side of the Patomeck River, adjacent to another track in occupation of said John Hallowes, granted to John Hallowes on 6 September 1654 (Book 4, page 369).
On 10 Nov. 1659 John Maddison wrote his Will, proved 10 January 1659/60 in Westmoreland County, Virginia. It mentions his brother (brother-in-law?)
