Westmoreland County

Whereas,
Westmoreland County is the
birthplace of such historical
figures as George Washington, James
Monroe and Robert E. Lee, as well as
Richard Henry Lee and Francis
Lightfoot Lee, both signers of the
Declaration of Independence; and

Whereas,
July 4, 2003, marks the three
hundred fiftieth anniversary of the
formation of Westmoreland County as
well as the two hundred
twenty-seventh anniversary of the
Declaration of Independence; and

Whereas,
the Town desires to employ this
occasion as an opportunity to
commemorate the great and storied
heritage of Westmoreland County, and

it Hereby Proclaimed,
that the citizens of Colonial Beach
are encouraged to celebrate the
three hundred fiftieth anniversary
of Westmoreland County in
conjunction with their celebration
of Independence Day.
