Nomini Plantation

Home of Robert Councillor Carter and his wife Fanny Tasker Carter.

The only known watercolor sketch of the original mansion was done by amateur artist & family relative E. Maund, completed shortly before burning in October 1850.

 

. . .Several outbuildings, two of them offices   . . .and beneath all subterranean chambers, passages, wine-cellars and vaults, after the fashion of an ancient feudal castle. . .

Rebuilt after the fire the plantation is still privately owned by Carter descendants.
