Located on land patented in 1654 by Toby Smith, it was the home of Revolutionary War participant Berryman Green; Quartermaster for Gen. Washington's Staff.

The house has since been restored; paneling which was removed to Montross was replaced and paneling from the destroyed Fairfax home Ossian Hall was utilized in the dining room.
