Windy Acres

Built in 1920 by James O. & Susan B. Billingsley. Called "Windy Acres" because originally, there were no trees and the wind from Monroe Bay used to tear across the property.

At one time, the tract farmed 20 acres that stretched from Monroe Bay to Colonial Avenue. In 1939, the Billingsley subdivision was platted and sold off much of the property as building lots.

 

 

 

 

 

There used to be many outbuildings. He raised chickens, vegetables and fruit. He used horses because he didn't have a tractor...
