A Lost Cemetery

Several weeks ago, Mr. Morris, who resides at “Flamstead
Hill” at Potomac Mills, discovered a grave at the north
corner of the fall of his garden, which revealed a part of a
skeleton which hade been placed there perhaps several
hundred years ago. The teeth which we saw were perfectly
beautiful, seemed to be in a perfect state of preservation.
The grave was cased with brick, the masonry indicating the
work of a skilled mason. Evidently the person interred must
have been one of wealth and distinction. Can Dr. G. W.
Beale tell us who the party may have been! Mr. Morris
informed us today that there is still another grave located
on the same line with the former. But his mother does not
propose to allow it to be disturbed, as a few nights after
the first was opened she saw, shortly after retiring to her
room at night, a bright light blazing in the arch, which
there had been no fire for months. She was thereby reminded
that perhaps the one disturbed was about to give her a
reprimand for advising that the grave be opened. |
