In the name of God, Amen: I Peter McClanahan, of
the County of Westmoreland, Parish of
Cople, being sick and weak, though in
perfect sense and memory, thanks be to
Almighty God for it doth make and ordain
that my last will and testament calling
to mind the uncertainty of life, knowing
that it hath pleased God once to all men
to die and as for what worldly goods it
has pleased God to bestow on me, I do
devise all manner and form the
following, Viz:
I give and bequeath to my son Wm. McClanahan all
my land, and one negro called Daniel, to
him and his heirs, lawfully begotten,
and if he should have no such heirs to
return to the next heir, and as for the
rest of my six children I do give and
bequeath all my estate not mentioned
both real and personal to be divided
between Peter McClanahan, Thomas
McClanahan, James McClanahan, Mary
McClanahan, betty McClanahan, my son
John McClanahan. And I do appoint my
son Wm. McClanahan, my son Thomas
McClanahan, and my son Peter McClanahan
whole and sole executors of this my Last
will and testament. In witness where of
I have hereunto set my hand and seal,
this 9th day of January 1775.
